Social Worker Children's Early Years Residential

We are recruiting for a new Early Years Residential based in Glenavy. We require full time permanent Social Workers to support the team of Child and Family Support staff already in place. The Home will support 3 children aged 6 - 12 years. The rota will operate on a 4 week rotation including evening and weekends.

 

Children and young people in care have had lots of different experiences. Many have been rejected or experienced something traumatic. Others have moved homes many times. We offer homes for children and young people who have experienced neglect, abuse and trauma. We support them in small, family style homes. We know this setting best meets the needs of each child.

 

THE ROLE:

To support the service manager in providing high quality care services through day to day management and general administration. To manage statutory responsibilities that supports the needs of the residents and to be an advocate on their behalf, ensuring the approach adapted is that of a child friendly, supportive and therapeutic ethos. This will include the need to ensure appropriate standards of care and assessment for the young people referred to the service, ensuring that care is both evidence based and outcomes focused. To support the registered manager in ensuring that the home operates in an efficient and effective child centred manner.

 

CRITERIA:

  • Recognised social work qualification and or Health & Social Care Management level. Commitment to work towards Social Work degree.
  • NISCC registration.
  • Experience in working with children and young people who have experienced significant traumas. Insight and experience in how to offer therapeutic supports and interventions.
  • Hold a current driving license valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. (where disability prohibits driving, this criteria will be waived if the applicant is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements.
  • Experience in the use of IT including at least one of the core packages i.e. Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in managing and supporting a team in a challenging environment.
